Your Actionable Guide to Monetizing Your Blogging Efforts

I have been blogging for almost 8 years now and although the first few years were very rough (in that I wasn’t really earning a lot), I can wholeheartedly say that it has become a good full-time job that I might do for the rest of my life.

You see, there is potential in blogging as it is one of the best ways to earn money online. But, unlike quick schemes, monetizing your blog not only requires time and effort; it also requires a good plan of action as well.

If I had known the things that I already know today, it would’ve only taken me 2 years or so to start earning the money that I earn now. Luckily for you, you do not have to do the same mistakes I did because this article will serve as your actionable guide to monetizing your blogging efforts.

It All Starts with the Right Niche

The biggest piece of advice I can give to you to start a blog that is going to be profitable is to choose the right niche. Now, you might think your blog should be something about what you are passionate about and although that makes sense, it might not be the best when it comes to earning potential.

You’d want to do your own research to find the trendiest niches out there as that would tell you that the said market is healthy. You can do that by coming up with possible niches or conducting a Google search and jotting down the industries that you find interesting.

Next, you’d want to use Google Trends to find out if a certain niche is going to be profitable for a long time or not. This program helps you find out how a particular niche is faring, given a set period of time.

Your Content is King

A blogger’s main weapon is the blog posts that they are going to write. Therefore, you have to write really good blog posts that are valuable to your target audience. Let me explain.

You should always think about creating high-quality content because if you are not, you are going up against the really stiff competition. For instance, if you want to try affiliate marketing for yourself, the said industry is not for the faint of heart. You want to make sure that you stand out and the only way for you to do that is through your content.

Now, what constitutes ‘great’ content? Well, it should either inform, entertain, or shed light on recent events, products, or something that is interesting to your target audience.

Of course, you’d also want to add relevant photos and videos as well since people do not like reading a huge block of text.

Use SEO to Your Advantage

Search engine optimization is going to be your friend, especially since a blogger that wants to earn money online would need a lot of people to go to their blogs and not on others.

SEO is a collection of different things that one can do to help their websites rank higher when someone uses a search engine. This is a broad topic but it has something to do with link building, using the right keywords, backlinking, and so much more. I highly recommend that you get acquainted with SEO so that you will drive more traffic to your blog.
